Emulsion Vs Cutback bitumen

Emulsion Vs Cutback Bitumen

Emulsion Vs Cutback Bitumen, In terms of nature, both emulsion bitumen and cutback bitumen are liquid bitumens. However, the main difference between the various cutback and emulsion bitumen products (such as the difference between mc bitumen and emulsion) is in their manufacturing materials. The main ingredients of emulsion bitumen are water and emulsifier. Therefore, using emulsion bitumen is better for the environment because bitumen is soluble in water.

On the other hand, several types of solvents are used in the manufacture of cutback bitumen, the evaporation of which can be toxic and harmful to the environment. Another point in the main difference between emulsion bitumen and cutback bitumen is that due to the type of manufacturing materials, cutback bitumen is more expensive, because solvents are used in its manufacture. While one of the main ingredients of emulsion bitumen is water, and therefore, it is less expensive than cutback bitumen.

Emulsion Vs Cutback Bitumen in application

Another type of difference between these two bitumen is in their application. Emulsion bitumen is usually used on dry and wet surfaces. However, soluble bitumen is mostly used on dry surfaces. In addition, another difference between emulsion bitumen and cutback bitumen is the drying time of these two bitumen. After applying emulsion bitumen, it takes about 2 to 15 hours for this bitumen to dry on the surface. However, for cutback bitumen, this amount is 24 to 48 hours. Therefore, the drying time of cutback bitumen is longer than that of emulsion bitumen.

Emulsion Vs Cutback Bitumen in price

Another important factor is the domestic laws and policies of governments regarding petroleum products and bitumen. Of course, all governments impose their own taxes and customs tariffs on bitumen, which increases or decreases the purchase price of cut-back bitumen in comparison with emulsion.
