Bitumen 30/40

Bitumen 30/40 means that the penetration rate in the standard test is between 30 and 40. This grade of bitumen is used in making hot asphalt for construction, street and road asphalt. This bitumen uses up to 30% less asphalt than traditional designs.
By definition, bitumen is a mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from refining crude oil. This material is thermoplastic and its hardness depends on temperature. The relationship between temperature and hardness of bitumen depends on the source of crude oil and refining method. Bitumen is completely soluble in carbon disulfide (CS2) and has the ability to stick and be waterproof. It is mainly composed of hydrocarbons and is usually made up of about 80% carbon and 15% hydrogen, with the balance being oxygen, nitrogen and other trace elements. Penetration grade bitumen is commonly used in road surfaces and minor industrial applications. Permeability determines the hardness of bitumen by measuring the depth that a standard needle-load penetrates vertically in 5 seconds, in an example of Bitumen stored at 25 degrees Celsius.

Bitumen 30/40: ideal waterproofing for different surfaces

Bitumen 30/40 is a type of petroleum waterproofing obtained from crude oil refining. This medium viscosity bitumen is ideal for insulating various surfaces including roofs, foundations, walls and water and chemical storage tanks.

Advantages of using bitumen 30/40:

Strong waterproofing: bitumen 30/40 makes moisture completely impermeable and prevents water from penetrating to the underlying surfaces.
High resistance: This bitumen is resistant to weather changes, UV rays and chemicals and has a long life.
Flexibility: bitumen is easily applied on uneven and curved surfaces due to its high flexibility.
Easy application: This bitumen can be easily applied with different methods such as brush, trowel or sprayer.
Reasonable price: Bitumen has an affordable price compared to other waterproofing materials.

Applications of bitumen:

Insulation of roofs: bitumen is widely used for insulation of residential, commercial and industrial roofs.
Insulation of foundations: This bitumen is used to insulate the foundations of buildings against moisture and water penetration.
Insulation of walls: Bitumen can be used to insulate the external and internal walls of buildings in order to prevent the penetration of moisture and maintain the optimal temperature inside the building.
Insulation of tanks: This bitumen is used for insulation of water, chemical and fuel storage tanks.
Pipeline coating: Bitumen can be used to coat underground pipelines to prevent corrosion and rust.

Important points when using bitumen 30/40:

Before applying bitumen, clean and dry the surface completely.
Heat the bitumen at a suitable temperature until it reaches the desired viscosity.
Use proper safety equipment such as gloves, goggles and mask.
When working with bitumen, ensure proper ventilation of the workplace.
