Comparison with bitumen 120/150
Bitumen 120/150 and bitumen 160/220 are both types of permeable bitumen produced from crude oil. However, these two bitumes have some key differences:
Degree of penetration: bitumen 120/150 has a degree of penetration of 120 to 150 mm at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, while bitumen 160/220 has a degree of penetration of 160 to 220 mm at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. This means that it is thicker than 120/150 bitumen.
Bitumen 160-220 is one of the penetrating bitumen which is classified according to the European standard, and the most use of this grade is in road construction and production of hot asphalt, and due to its lower consistency, it is mostly used in cold areas.
Definition of bitumen penetration grade 160/220
Bitumen Penetration Grade 160/220 is a standard penetration grade Bitumen usually used as a Paving Grade Bitumen suitable for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties. This grade of Bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses. Penetration Grade Bitumen supplied by FARAGAM BITUMEN Co is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional / vacuum distillation of crude oil. The Bitumen supplied by Faragam Co is produced from the vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Penetration Grade bitumen are specified by the penetration and softening point test. The designation is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumen has a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/ viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen.
Penetration Grade Bitumen is a standard bitumen usually used as a Paving Grade Bitumen essential for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties, and it’s very important once it bounds the aggregates and creates a unique cohesion and stability to the bituminous mix.
Application of bitumen penetration grade 160/220
Bitumen penetration 160/220 is suitable for road construction and for the asphalt pavements with superior properties. This type of bitumen used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses
